Caleb Butler Lodge

Masters Message

Brethren All,

First of all, I would like to thank the members of Caleb Butler Lodge for electing me as Master for the 2008 - 2009 term.  It is a great honor to have the opportunity to serve such a distinguished lodge.  The next twelve months will be exciting times in Caleb Butler Lodge, as we celebrate its 150th anniversary. There are several special events planned to celebrate this historic milestone, details will follow in our monthly notices.

On Saturday October 18th the lodge will once again host an Open House for Square and Compasses Day. The Ayer Masonic Building will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and I encourage each and every member to invite a friend or relative, who you feel, is of good character and would be a good addition to our lodge.  Brothers Rick Dickson and Dan Taylor have been hard at work preparing and promoting this event, we can only prosper as a lodge with your assistance.

As Master of the Lodge I am charged “to set the Craft at Work and give them necessary Instruction” therefore, I request your attendance, at our regular monthly communications, to receive instruction and enjoy the fellowship of our fraternity.  There are several new membership programs sanctioned by the Grand Lodge one of which is the new Masonic Rookie program for first year Masons.  Please see the Master or Wardens for details.

The Installation of Officers was held on Saturday September 27, 2008.  There were many members, distinguished guests and visitors present to witness the ceremonies performed by the Kilted Craft and the charge given by our own R.W. H. Arnold Wilder.  During the Installation, I informed those present, that it is my intention to retain the attendance Gavel, of the Fourteenth Lodge of Instruction, during my term as Master.  To achieve this goal, I request your assistance by attending the lodge of instruction on frequent occasions.  The next Fourteenth Lodge of Instruction will be held at the Concord Masonic Apartments on Thursday October 2nd 2008. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m., candidate Instruction will follow and the Lodge will open at 7:30 p.m.  R.W. James Ray, Senior Grand Warden will be the speaker for the evening.  Please support our District by attending the Lodge of Instruction.

On behalf of Caleb Butler Lodge, I have applied for the Grand Masters Award.  Our lodge is an active lodge and with your assistance and support we should easily achieve this goal.

The Ayer Masonic Associates will be hosting a trip to the Indian Cultural Center in Uncasville, Connecticut on Saturday November 8, 2008. Proceeds will benefit the Ayer Masonic Association.  For details please contact Rick Skoczylas, Clark Paige or Charlie Jones.

How are we doing as a lodge?  Are we meeting your expectations? Do you have any ideas? We are always interested in your opinions and welcome your thoughts.  Please let the Master or Wardens know of your requests.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to greet you at our next regular communication on Monday October 13th 2008.

Fraternally,

R. W. Ernest A. Bean
